Master the Upper Rooms

The Power of Mindfulness with Rudy Daniel

Kerie Logan and Rudy Daniel Season 1 Episode 17

In this episode, I interview Rudy Daniel. He is the author of the book Behind the Mask, Behind the Mind, and the creator of the Affirmative Mindfulness Meditation app. Enjoy!

Hello, everyone. I'm your host, Keri Logan at Master of the Upper Rooms, and I have a special guest today. I am really excited to have Rudy Daniel with me today. He is just a fabulous gentleman. He wrote this really great book. If you could see it, it's called Behind the Mask, Beyond the Mind, Discover Who You Really Are. And I've been reading this book. I just... i i've fallen in love with it i i flagged so many different pages i'm like oh i gotta ask about this, this, this. So I'm just rambling here, but i just wanted to first introduce rudy to all of you. And we're going to talk about his book and we're going to talk about this fabulous app that he has created as well. So everyone, welcome to the show. This is rudy Daniel. Rudy, how are you this morning?

Terry, thank you so much for having me. And thank you for the warm and beautiful presentation. I'm doing great. Good. Where are you actually right now? Currently, I'm in Tel Aviv. Nice. That's very nice. So in your book, there's one section I got to read because when I read this one part, it literally spoke volumes to me because I teach. Master the Upper Rooms, which is all about shifting your state of consciousness, getting out of the 3D mindset up into the four and up into the five. And you have achieved that through the various methods that you utilized. So I'm going to read this here. As I continue to engage in a debate about these important matters, I found myself losing sight of which part of me

was originally on my side. The inner dialogue seemed like a confrontation between two versions of myself, leaving me questioning the validity of each voice. I felt like an endless puzzle trying to determine which perspective I should trust. So I really enjoyed that because that really does happen when we start to shift out of 3D into 4D. Because the 3D voice is really stuck in fear and doubt and question, question, question. But then when you connect to that other voice, which is your higher self, it's a completely different, just, it's mind-blowing when you can really connect to that part. So let us hear a little bit more about how that whole shift was for you. You came from one place and you ended up somewhere else at the end of your journey. Well, it's not the end of my journey yet. I know that, yes. So, yeah, the part that you read was... The death leads you to go. Yeah, I was deepening my knowledge and immersing myself in a lot of philosophies, philosophies,

from the Eastern traditions mostly. And it went along with my experiences that I have. Some of them were mystical experiences driven by different methods. And it became confusing because I had a lot of voices inside me constantly validating ideas and concepts and then doubting them and then validating them and then doubting them again. So basically this is the search for intuition everybody is talking about what is my intuitive voice? What is my true self? And when you are really quiet, you can hear it. You can hear that. But at first, as you said, it is very confusing because there are various voices and, um, various personalities inside every each and every one of us. And it's difficult to trust a certain voice. So it was like a trial and error for me. And at the time it was really driving me insane. But I believe that it's it was a great contribution to my journey. Hearing these voices and trying to understand which one was true and which one was

the one that i should follow and the one i should trust um and i must say that there is no good way of determining um what is the the voice of our our deepest voice, the voice of the i am. But if you trust, trust the journey and trust the way it develops with time it it will reveal itself. louder and clearer than ever. And you will not need to believe anymore or need to search anymore. It will be evident to you as it is evident to you when you are thirsty, you're not analyzing by your mind and you're thinking, well, should i trust the voice that says i'm thirsty? It's something that is so embedded into your being. So we time the voice of intuition, uh,

comes to fruition in a similar way. Yeah, a lot of people like say to me like, well, how do you develop your intuition? And what I've told a lot, or they think only certain people have this ability, okay? And I tell everyone that, well, you've heard your inner voice before, but you ignored it. And the example I like to give is, let's say you're eating something and your inner voice says, you really should stop eating now. Or I think you're full right now. Or it can say, maybe you should make a healthier food choice. It's just those light voices and suggestions that pop in your head. And most people ignore it. The best, another great example to give is let's say you're in an argument and you're about to say something that's going to cut that person like a knife. And this voice comes in and tells you, you shouldn't do that. Your relationship will never be the same again if you do this. And it's like a warning from above telling you, hey,

you're gonna jeopardize this. Either it's gonna hurt you physically, you're gonna hurt someone else physically. And sometimes we listen to that voice, but the majority of time, I think people ignore it. And so what I tell my clients is if you want to build your intuition muscle, because it really is a muscle and build that connection, you need to listen to it and act on it and then thank it. Because when you thank it, like gratitude, you're saying, give me more, give me more. And, and each time, think about it, you know, it's like, if each time you close the door on it and silence it, it just knows you're not ready. And, and that, that's a tricky part too. A want it now instant you know gratification oh i want these abilities now but you it like with anything you with any muscle you've you've got to build that relationship and you got to work on it yeah yeah i agree i wrote extensively about about this matter in the book and that the the conclusion i came up with when i was writing the book is that

There is no good way of determining if the decision that you make is correct or not. You can still fall on your face while listening to the deepest voice within. And sometimes this deepest voice within is just your ego pretending to be this voice. So the best thing to do is to continue with this strategy of trying to attune to this voice and allow mistakes to happen. Mistakes are not a trouble. Mistakes are not something that you've done wrong. Mistakes are the only way that you can grow. For example, for me as a guitar player, when I play the guitar, mistakes are an essential part of my growing maturing ability to play. And if I don't make any mistakes, I don't come with anything novel. So with time, the mistakes that happen during the practice of playing a guitar, with time, they solidify and become this talent, this skill, which is based on intuition. When I'm playing the guitar, I'm not thinking about the next note or the next chord. It's all happening on its own accord.

In the same way, your intuition with time, when you're tuning in to this certain vibration in your life, that voice, with time it comes, it becomes just a part of you, not a decision-making mechanism. Right. I mean, I really get that. And I always say that We don't have mistakes. It's just an error in judgment. And sometimes that error in judgment can lead you down a beautiful path. You know, that you, you would not have discovered or explored unless you made that error in judgment. So, yeah. But yes, I just wanted to say I'm thoroughly enjoying your, your book. I really, really enjoyed how you noticed everything is interconnected and everything is alive. And we are part of that beautiful woven tapestry. All of us are. And if you know how to connect into that energy and that vibration, you can work with people all over the globe. I mean, I remember one time I was...

I think I was doing the dishes and I got a message for one of my Facebook friends that used to be a client that lives in India. And he loved music like you. He would play the guitar. And the message I got was that he's been really depressed and sad lately and hasn't been playing his music. And that's what feeds his soul. So I sent this guy a Facebook message. I'm like, I don't know if this is, you know, real or not, but this message is for you. And I sent it to him and he replied back going, Oh my God, you're so correct. I have been sad and depressed lately and I haven't been playing my music and that's what makes me feel better. And once he picked up that guitar again and started writing his music and playing it, I think he put an album out. I mean, I started seeing all these videos about it and I was so excited that he literally, you know, took that, you know, I,

I shared the guidance that I got for him, but that happens for me all the time. And I know it can happen to other people. I mean, I'm sure there's moments someone was thinking about you and you start thinking about them and the two of you connect and you're like, oh my God, I was thinking about you, but you beat me to it. You called me first or I called you first, but yeah. You've been in that situation, right? Absolutely. People call it synchronicities, but for me, more and more, I find that this is just the way the world works. For me, it's a common thing. So when you tune into this certain plane of consciousness where these things are available for you, they're available for everyone. Oh, yeah.

At the plane of consciousness that you need to tune into, these things are happening all the time because this is the way nature works. Everything is connected. There is no separation in nature by definition. We are just akin to this kind of thought because we feel like a separate being which lives inside the skin. And everything outside of our skin is therefore the other. But how can you... separate yourself from the air you breathe or from the space you're in or from other people. How would you know yourself without other people? So it's a very simple experiment that everyone can do with themselves is ask, am I really separate? And begin to think about the relations between everything in the universe. And soon enough, they will find that everything is interconnected into this

network of causalities of energies or whatever you would like to call it but absolutely and once you tune into it you can see that it's it's available all the time because this is the way reality works everything is one everything is connected it is it truly is. Because everything that we see, let's say, in the world around us, first started out with a thought. It's like the mask you have on the wall. Someone thought of that and saw that image in their mind and then made it into reality. And so it's kind of like that piece of wood had that image already ingrained in it and someone connected with it and saw it and carved it. I mean, not many people think that way, but, you know, it's, I mean, I do.

But it's yes, everything, you know, was created first by by a thought. And it's either do you listen to that thought and make it create it or do you ignore it? Absolutely. Yeah. So I'm going to shift gears here because I want to I want everyone to know about your app. And I I think it's fabulous. So tell us tell us more about it. Thank you. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to share. It's a project that I'm very excited about. So the Affirmate app is a very unique mindfulness app that me and my co-founder Roy have released to the world a months back. And the simple philosophy of the Affirmate app is mindfulness experiences that are short, interactive, repeatable and beautiful. So we believe that mindfulness is very important. It's probably as important as our physical health, our mental health. And today it's becoming the biggest pandemic in the world. People are filled with anxiety, with fears, with stress. It's a very difficult time to live in. So everybody talks about mindfulness.

but it seems though that people are confusing mindfulness with the traditional way of meditation, which for the eastern part of the world, it's something that is embedded in its culture and it's part of life. And the way we in the west integrated meditation is a kind of way of trying to sit and think of nothing, which is unattainable for the western mind, or it's very very difficult it takes years of practice. And we feel that the way to do it, the way to see the profoundness of life is through mindful living. And the way we suggest mindful living is by short and beautiful practices that you can repeat. So the first practice we released you already seen, it's the 90 second meditation, which is a visual and auditory experience where you involve a tangible item like a ring or a necklace. And then after the practice,

this item is a reminder of your intention throughout the day. And so you can carry on with your affairs. And in the middle of the day, you take a look at your ring and you say, oh, I had an intention of gratitude today. And so it keeps you grounded and it keeps you within the state of presence, within the state of being here and now. And in the upcoming weeks, we are releasing a few more novel practices that are emphasizing sound, like sound healing and sound bath and a lot of cool things, really. So I just advise to your audience, check it out in the podcast notes and just go see it. It's very cool. Some of it is absolutely for free. And there are also a lot of great articles that we share about mindful living that you can just explore and begin your journey with mindfulness.

Well, what I really liked, too, was you had an explanation for the frequency that you used. And you explained the solfege frequencies. You broke down the explanation about the bowls or bells or chimes and where it originates from and what was the meaning and purpose for it. So I really... enjoyed that. And the visual is just stunning. It's so beautiful. And I think it's, I think it's on this phone that i have, if i can pull it up and show people, but what i really, and it's not very expensive. That's the thing that I, I really respected about this. Um, I'll, let the listeners know this is that when we had our meet and greet, I shared with you that I bought a similar device that would do the, almost the same thing. And the price for that was crazy. It was like a subscription of 150 a month. It was really nuts. And I was, I was sharing it with someone, but it really worked. I mean, all of that was, was just fabulous. It worked really good.

And I really like just that one simple positive affirmation. I've done the gratitude one, and it was beautiful. So you have gratitude, you have happiness and joy, health, wealth and success, creativity and inspiration, confidence and power, relaxation, and then lastly is love and friendships. And the first two that are free on here is the gratitude, happiness and joy. Yeah. So I'm I'm I'm excited. And I and when you do sign up, you get emails of when you have special promotions and stuff. And I didn't receive that as well. So it's it's nice. And I like how it also has a reminder. I can set an alarm to remind me like at 9 a.m. or 12 o'clock to to do it. Because we get so busy with life, we forget to do it. Right. I think you would love the upcoming update of the app. It will just complement this practice and make it... You know, with this practice today, you come once a day into the app. This is our premise. You do it once and it lasts throughout the day. But now you will have more reasons to come back and I...

I assure you, you will love it. I don't want to spoil it, but it's coming really soon. Cool. Well, I'm excited to check it out. And on the terms of mindfulness, I'm going to give a really good example because I work with clients that are wanting to lose weight. And if you sit back and think about how many people actually sit in front of a meal and are mindful... How many people actually enjoy what they're eating and are mindful? A lot of people were just like, you eat so fast that it still doesn't give time for your head, your mind and your stomach to register that you're full. And that should be a sacred moment to really just stop and connect with your food and

Feel blessed that you actually have a meal to eat. Be grateful for that because there's some people that don't have, let's say, clean water or clean food or nutritious food to eat. And just be mindful and present. Chew your food 20 times. Put your fork down. Take a sip of water. But as you know, so many people are just mindlessly eating. Absolutely. Absolutely. And I think that what you described, it's a great way of gratitude or a great way of prayer. When I'm talking about eating mindfully, I'm even more obsessive because what I am saying is when you are eating, try to be as present as you can be in every motion possible. of your body in every feeling of the sensory organs towards the food, starting with the eyes, nose, mouth, tongue, and your in internal organs when you swallow the food. So try to be as present as you can be, as intense as you can be. So follow all of them all of the motions that you're actually doing

And this is called mindfulness. This is a full awareness of your action. And what it does is that with time, you're beginning to see some sort of interesting phenomena, which I like to refer to as a crack in reality, where time stops when you are fully aware of what you're doing. And then you can suddenly see through this crack a more exuberating kind of life, kind of reality that you thought never existed. And it comes only when you're fully present. So it's not to say that you need to pursue it actively, but rather it unveils itself. It presents itself to you through the act of being present, through the act of mindfulness. Right. No, I fully agree. Well, and you can even take it to the next level of how we engage and interact with someone that we care about. You know, like, can we stop and really, really connect to that person? And I was talking to one of my doctor friends the other day, and she was mentioning to me that

There's a beauty when you get to around my age, you know, and you, I'm sure you've experienced it too, where like in your twenties, having intimacy with someone is so much different than when you're older, because it's not about the end goal of fulfillment. It's the goal of really connecting with that person, right? And, and you and when you do, you can literally feel the energy between you and that person. And it's a beautiful thing. And you can learn to play with that energy and explore with that energy. You can make it smaller, you can make it bigger, you can do all these things with energy. And it's amazing. It's amazing. It's like, I wish I knew this maybe when I was younger. But

But I'm also really appreciating a lot more as I get older because it's something that's so beautiful and so magical. And it's hard for people sometimes to comprehend, like, what is she talking about? But you have to experience it to really know what it's like. Yeah. that all the experiences you had in your spiritual awakening you had positive ones you had negative ones but the ones i think you really cherish were those deep profound spiritual connections that just left you in awe yeah yeah i don't really i don't really refer to it as a spiritual awakening uh because i don't i think these terms have a lot of concepts behind them that are very heavy and people are imagining some sort of, you know, rays coming from the heaven and penetrating your mind and then you know, all of that. All I have ever experienced is the phenomena of myself. And I suggest that each and every one of us is this fountain of

truth deep deep inside and when you're trying to you know a person would say okay show me show me what you're talking about you know walk on water or or fly or do any of these things if you're so you know if you have all these experiences but it's like trying to explain in words for someone who have never heard music before the concept of hearing music. I mean, you can be as articulate as you can be about it, but still, it will be a totally different experience when you actually hear music. So some things are ineffable, some things are not describable, and the mind of the person who is trying to get the information about it will never find it. It's only an experimental

that you can understand only if you experience it. So what I'm telling to people is don't look at... No, it's just... basic stuff, basic mindfulness stuff that with time um will unveil to you um and you will see. So it's very easy but but conceptually it's it sounds easy, but when you try it you you realize it's difficult you said before you know you can be mindful when you're talking to some friends but But this would be even more difficult because when you're talking to your friend, you have all these mechanisms of judgment, of biases, of what I'm going to say next and how do I look in the eyes of my friend as he speaks or as I speak. So there are a lot of difficulties because there is a lot of noise to the sensory organs. And this is why when we're just...

still and quiet and by ourselves, a lot of messages come, a lot of synchronicity comes. You don't have all this noise around you. So that's why i suggest when you begin your practice with mindfulness, you start with the very basics, with the very small things that you can do, like eating, like drinking a cup of coffee, like drinking a cup of water. And from there, it will build up and and present itself to you with time. It does. And you made a really good point about people could have the misconception of what is a spiritual awakening. And it's like, oh, I'm going to walk on water. Oh, I'm going to turn water into wine, all that. That's not what I'm talking about at all. Because, like, say for me, the spiritual awakening really was a shift in perspective.

and getting to that higher level of awareness of oneness and of complete joy. And this immersed feeling of just unconditional love is just, it's everywhere if you line up with it. And so that's how it really was for me is just, that synchronicity where everything just lined up and you're in this moment where it is like pure bliss. And what was really interesting is it was more, I would say for me, deep and profound when I was alone and no one was around, there was no distractions. I could totally be in the moment and, and soak it up like, you know, a sponge and water. And so I, Yes, a lot of people think, oh, the heavens are going to open up and, you know, God's going to come down. They have these weird ideas. And it's like, no, it's just a shift. It's really a shift. And your perspective, you're raising yourself vibrationally up. And then you match with the ethers that are all up here. And all of us can do it. I mean, you can do it right now. Anyone can do it. But like you said...

you got to start small and you go up those steps. You know, you can't get to the, you can't race to the top of the mountain and be like, okay, I'm here, you know, spiritually awaken me. It just doesn't work that way. Absolutely. Yeah. So, so yeah. So in two weeks you'll have, so what's the launch date you foresee? Just so people know. Yeah. Oh, so we're planning the mid of October, end of October. Okay. That's good to know. That's good to know. Well, Rudy, Daniel, it has been a complete pleasure speaking with you today. I highly recommend your book. If anyone wants to know, what was someone's journey like? you know, having this awakening and, and really taking, taking the mask off because so many people wear a mask, you know, they're, they're nervous about, are they going to like me? So I'm going to, you know, be on my best behavior. So they're going to like me or, and there's so many masks people wear and that's gotta be exhausting. Yeah.

It really does. And I loved it. How you had that concept of, well, I've achieved this. I've acquired that. I have everything that people would say in society. I should be happy, but you really weren't. And that was beautiful that you, you shared that and you were, you were real, you know, with it because people do have that. Also that misconception of what is happiness. Well, you, I do this, this, and this, this will give me happiness. But when you get there, it's like, are you really happy? Absolutely. Yeah. So thank you so much, Rudy, for being here today. I truly appreciate you. And I know you're going to enjoy the rest of your journey throughout life. Carrie, thank you so much. It was great as well. And I hope you...

Like the upcoming update, I'll surely send you a message. Okay. And I am, just to let everyone know, I'm going to create a blog post with information about Rudy and the app and all that great stuff. So people, if you're driving your car and you're like, I can't stop right now, you can always go to Master the Upper Rooms and there will be a spot there for Rudy with all his contact information. Okay. Well, you have a lovely day. All right. Thank you so much. Okay. And I will chat with you later. Take care.
